School Life

I am adjusting well to school and I have gotten used to the lecture style. To my surprise, the module structure is not too different from my classes in Shidler. The grading of the modules that I am taking are based on group projects, papers, and class participation. The main difference between Shidler and NUS is that participation is heavily weighed.

Dorm Life

During the Chinese New Years break, I had to vacate my dorm room and move to a different residence within PGPR due to the coronavirus situation in China. I felt very sad and panicked as I read the notice to move out in less than 24 hours. I remember feeling upset because the rooms that we had to move to were not ready for the students and it felt very rushed. The school had decided to create quarantine quarters at the residence that I lived in for students who came back from visiting family in China. Looking back at this event, I think that the school decided to do what's best for public safety and I am glad that they took this preventative measure.

Adventures

During these weeks, I did a lot of shopping and trying new foods. My friends would always look up places to eat on Instagram and whenever we found something that looked delicious, we would make an effort to go to the places. At one of the hawker centers, we found a place that sells dim sum for $1.30 SGD per dish (so cheap!!). We decided that it would be best to eat it family style so that we could try more dishes. I think that the dim sum was pretty good considering the price. Another amazing place that we found was a all you can eat hot pot place called Pot Yummy Yummy. The price per person was about $20 SGD. Each person gets their own pot and to get the food was buffet style. I was very surprised to see that you could get your own meat, back home you would need to order it from the waiter. I would definitely want to go back there again! Besides shopping and eating, I went to see the worlds largest indoor waterfall at Jewel Changi Airport. The waterfall is called the Rain Vortex, every night there is a light show attraction. I was taken aback by the beautiful light show performance. Inside of Changi Airport there were also gardens and a mirror maze. Going through the mirror maze was a lot of fun, it was hard to find the exit and I almost ran into a mirror.
